Who We Are

King County Civil Rights, in the Office of Equity and Social Justice, has two roles. The Enforcement unit of our office investigates and resolves complaints of discrimination (employment, housing, public accommodations), provides education and offers technical assistance. The Compliance unit assists with Title VI compliance for county agencies, and investigates public grievances alleging Title VI violations. It also works to make King County government programs, facilities and services accessible to people with disabilities and handles public grievances alleging ADA violations.

Investigation of discrimination complaints.

Emergency Instructions

OCR provides expedited complaint filing in some cases. However, discrimination complaints can be filed with OCR up to 180 days after the discriminatory incident (up to 365 days for housing cases).
