It is always a good idea to talk to a lawyer before handling a court case on your own. We also suggest you read Debtors' Rights in a Lawsuit before completing this interview.

What do I need before I start?

Gather all the papers that were served on you. You must look at them to answer questions in the interview.

You need to know:

  • The number of your case (if there is one)
  • The name of the Court and County where the creditor is suing you

You can usually find this information at the top of the first page of the court papers you received.
